Therapy Session

LOW BACK PAIN

We use a combination of manual and mechanical treatments to decrease your low back paint and return you to full function. After a thorough evaluation, your therapist will set an individualized treatment program. Your treatment program will consist of appropriate modalities to decrease inflammation, manual therapies to mobilize restricted joints and tissues, stability exercises to strengthen your core and an independent home exercise program for you to continue on your road to a stronger, healthier back.

SCIATICA

The literal "pain in your bottom". Our therapists are trained to provide a thorough evaluation to uncover the cause of your pain, whether it is low back, blunt trauma, or repetitive injury. Modalities, manual therapies, and therapeutic exercises will be used to achieve proper mobility of tissues and strength for stability.

NECK PAIN/HEADACHES

A thorough evaluation will determine the cause of your neck/headache pain. Your therapist will then develop and independent treatment plan to return you to full function. Your therapist will use appropriate modalities, manual therapies, massage techniques, therapeutic exercises, and self-treatment techniques to alleviate your neck and headache pains.

CARPAL TUNNEL

The key to eliminating wrist numbness and pain is a complete evaluation to uncover the cause. Here at Gateway Physical Therapy we strive to provide what is needed to return you to full hand function without the pain and numbness. Through modalities, manual techniques, stretching and strengthening our goal is to return you to work and play as soon as possible.

PLANTAR FASCITIS

Heel pain, arch pain and toe pain all will alter how you walk, in turn, causing other lower extremity and back pain. Stopping the pain and returning you to a normalized gait is our priority. Our therapists will use appropriate modalities, including ultrasound, phonophoresis, iontophoresis and electrical stimulation to decrease inflammation, mobilize tissue and decrease pain. Gait training, orthotic evaluation, and strengthening will then return you to full activity.

SWOLLEN ANKLES

Whether due to pregnancy or injury, our therapists are trained in specific techniques to decrease edema and increase fluid mobility, in order to increase patient comfort and decrease pain.

ELBOW PAIN

A thorough evaluation will determine the cause of your elbow pain and your therapist will design an independent program to return you to full function and decrease your elbow discomfort. Modalities, manual massage techniques and strengthening will be used to help you reach your goals.

KNEE PAIN

Knee pain can come from multiple causes. Our therapists will help discover the root cause and eliminate any associated compensations. Our goal is to decrease pain, stabilize and strengthen your knee to return you to your active lifestyle as quickly as possible.

HIP PAIN/BURSITIS

Hip pain can lead to pain in low back, knees even shoulder pain secondary to limping and abnormal gait patterns. Prompt care is important to prevent further pain and weakness. Gateway Physical Therapy and Wellness, P.C. strives to provide you with thorough diagnosis and to develop an individualized treatment plan to stabilize hip and prevent ongoing dysfunctions.

SHOULDER PAIN

Shoulder pain can lead to neck, scapular and arm pain if not treated promptly. We strive to prevent further dysfunction through our thorough evaluations and individualized treatment plans. A biochemical evaluation is important to determine movement disorders in this complex joint. Treatment usually includes anti-inflammatory modalities, joint mobilization, therapeutic exercise and functional re-education of surrounding musculature.

CHRONIC PAIN

We have worked closely with pain management specialists to develop movement therapies that compliment your ongoing treatment to deal with chronic pain. We are certified in Pilates which is a movement program which incorporates your entire body to stabilize, strengthen and increase mobility. A body in motion stays in motion.

ARTHRITIS

Whether you have just recently been diagnosed or you have lived with arthritis for years, we can help. Movement and stability of arthritic joints is important to decrease progression of this disease process. We will develop a program to decrease pain and increase function of arthritic joints that you will be able to continue independently.

OBESITY
POST-OP REHAB
